Do your first stream from start to finish

From the program format to the LIVE button: the complete path to your first live stream on YouTube, Facebook or another destination.

Step by step

  1. In ⚙ Settings › Project, choose the Resolution and Frame rate and click Apply now.
  2. Click ＋ Add input and add your camera or capture card.
  3. Check the sound in the mixer: the meter on the camera (or microphone) strip should move when there is sound.
  4. Click the gear next to LIVE and then + New destination.
  5. Choose the ready-made template (YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitch…), paste the stream key and click Save.
  6. Click ✓ Check before going live and fix whatever shows up.
  7. Click the camera thumbnail and then Cut: it goes to Program.
  8. Click LIVE. The button shows the time on air.

Before you start

Without an active license (or free trial), NWK opens but does not stream or record. Check in ⚙ Settings › License.

The program format

Recording, streaming and NDI® follow the project resolution and frame rate. In Brazil, the usual is 1080p at 29.97. The change only takes effect after Apply now, and only off air. The inputs stay the same.

Where to find the key

When you choose a ready-made template, NWK fills in the server and shows where to find the key. On YouTube, for example: YouTube Studio › Go live › Stream key. For another service, use Custom (RTMP/RTMPS) and paste the server address and the key.

Keys are stored securely on this computer. Leaving the key field blank when editing keeps the stored key.

Adding a destination does not put it on air

Saving the destination only sets it up. The stream starts only when you press LIVE. If no destination is turned on, the LIVE button opens the settings instead of starting.

During the live stream

Next to LIVE, a dot appears for each destination. Hover over LIVE to see the status of each one. If the internet drops, the destination tries to reconnect by itself.

Ending

Click LIVE again. NWK asks “End the stream?”. Click End to take all destinations off air, or Stay on air. The recording, if it is on, keeps going.

Questions

Can I stream to more than one place at the same time?

Yes. Add one destination for each place. Each one has its own on/off switch on the stream settings screen.

How do I record the live stream too?

Press RECORD, separate from LIVE. One does not depend on the other.
