Step by step
- Connect the camera or capture card to the computer.
- Click + Add input › Video device (camera, capture card)….
- Click the device in the list.
- In Format, leave Automatic (best up to 1080p 60) or choose a format.
- In Audio, choose the sound that comes in with the image, or No audio.
- If you want, give the input a Name.
- Click Add.
The device list
The window shows the devices the system sees right now. Connected another one? It appears by itself, without restarting anything. If it does not appear, click ↻ Refresh list. A device that is already an input shows as already added and cannot be chosen again.
The card's audio
When the card or camera has its own sound, the first Audio option is From the card itself. That sound becomes a channel in the mixer. You can also choose another audio device or No audio.
The name is remembered
The name you give is saved for that device. The next time you add it, NWK suggests the same name.
Camera permission on Mac
On Mac, if NWK does not have permission yet, the window shows a warning. Click Allow. If permission was denied, click Open Settings and allow NWK in Privacy & Security › Camera.
The camera does not appear
- Change the cable or the USB port. Prefer connecting straight to the computer or to a USB 3 hub.
- Video switchers with a webcam output: use the device's USB-C webcam port.
- If not even the system sees the device, the problem is the cable, the port or the hub.
