Step by step
- At the top of the window, click the gear ⚙ next to the LIVE button.
- The “Live · settings” window opens with the list of destinations.
- Click “+ New destination” to add YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitch or your own server.
- Check the internet networks under “Internet networks”.
- When everything is ready, click “Start stream”.
What this window has
- Destinations: one card for each platform, with the name, the quality and an on/off switch for each format (16:9 and, on Mac, 9:16).
- Internet networks: the computer's connections and which ones the stream can use.
- ✓ Check before going live: checks inputs, microphones, disk, internet and destinations before you start.
- At the bottom, the Start stream button (or End stream, if you are already on air).
Setting up puts nothing on air
You can change anything you like in this window. The stream only starts when you press Start stream or the LIVE button.
How much internet you need
Next to “Destinations” you see the total upload of the streams that are on, for example “~12.5 Mbps upload”. Your upload speed needs about 50 % headroom over that number.
Video format
The resolution and frames per second follow the project (Settings › Project). The stream uses H.264 with AAC audio: RTMP for YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Twitch, and MPEG-TS for SRT destinations.
Questions
I pressed LIVE and the settings opened. Why?
This happens when no destination is on. Add a destination or turn on one you already have, then press LIVE again.
