Step by step
- Click + Add input › SRT (receive over network/internet)….
- Give it a Name, for example “Reporter on the street”.
- In Connection, choose how the signal arrives (see below).
- Fill in the Port and, if needed, the Address.
- Adjust the Latency (ms) and, if the sender uses them, the Password and the Stream ID.
- Click Add.
The two ways to connect
| Connection | When to use |
|---|---|
| Pull the signal from an address (caller) | The signal is on a server or on another computer. Type its IP or name in Address. |
| Wait for the sender on this computer (listener) | The sender sends to this computer, at srt://IP-of-this-computer:port. |
Latency
Higher latency copes with worse internet: 200 ms on the local network, 500 to 2000 ms over the internet. Use the same as the sender. The default is 200 ms.
Password and Stream ID
The Password is optional and must be 10 to 79 characters, the same as the sender's. The Stream ID is also optional: some servers require it.
Change it later
Click the gear ⚙ on the thumbnail. Change the address, port, latency, password or Stream ID and click Reconnect. Leaving the password blank keeps the saved password.
Questions
The thumbnail says it is waiting for a connection. What do I do?
In listener mode, the input waits for the sender. Check that the sender uses this computer's IP, the same port and the same password.
