Step by step
- On the Master strip, click FX.
- In the window that opens, read the LOUDNESS row.
- To start a new measurement, click Reset integrated.
What LUFS is
LUFS is the unit of loudness, the volume as the ear perceives it. Platforms use this measure to even out the volume of programs.
The three measures
| Measure | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Momentary | The volume right now. |
| Short-term (3 s) | The average of the last 3 seconds. |
| Integrated | The average since the start or since you reset it. This is the measure that counts. |
Which target to use
- −23 LUFS: TV (EBU R128 standard).
- −14 LUFS: YouTube and streaming.
To reach the target, adjust the Master fader. The Master compressor and limiter help keep the level.
In the Advanced mixer
The measures are always visible at the top of the mixer: Moment., Short and Integr. (LUFS), with the Reset button.
