Step by step
- At the top of the mixer, click + and choose Subgroup.
- The subgroup appears in the Master tab.
- On each channel strip, click no group until the subgroup name appears.
- Now the subgroup fader and mute apply to all its channels.
How it works
A channel inside a subgroup does not go straight to the Master: it passes through the subgroup. That is why the channel's MST button is dimmed. The subgroup has its own MST and A to E buttons, and its own FX.
Effect returns can also go into a subgroup. Muting the group mutes the effect.
Name the subgroup
Click FX on the subgroup strip and change the Name.
Delete a subgroup
Click the ✕ at the top of the subgroup strip and confirm with Delete. Its channels then go straight to the Master.
In the Advanced mixer
Click the strip's Subgroup row and choose the group from the list, or None (goes direct). In the Interface output tab, the subgroup can get a physical output of its own.
