Enable or disable an input's audio

The speaker on the input thumbnail turns its sound on or off everywhere. See when to use it and how to adjust the audio without opening the mixer.

Step by step

  1. On the input thumbnail, click the speaker.
  2. Green (🔊): the audio is enabled.
  3. Red (🔇): the audio is disabled and plays nowhere.

Enabled

With the audio enabled, the input works normally. On PGM the sound turns on by itself in the mixer, and off PGM it is muted. On Preview, you hear the input in the headphones.

Disabled

With the audio disabled, the input plays nowhere: not on PGM, not on Preview, not in the headphones. This applies even if the channel is on in the mixer.

In the mixer, the strip is dimmed and the button shows OFF. Click it to enable the audio again.

Use it when a camera or a video has sound you never want on air.

Adjust the audio from the thumbnail

Click the small arrow ▸ next to the speaker. A small strip opens with volume, on and mute, solo, outputs, AFV and FX, without going to the mixer.
