Make audio follow video (AFV)

With AFV on, the input sound turns on when it goes on air and is muted when it leaves. See how to turn it on and how it works with videos.

Step by step

  1. In the mixer, find the input strip.
  2. Click AFV. The button lights up.
  3. Now, when the input goes to PGM, the channel is ON. When it leaves, it is MUTE.

What AFV is

AFV means “audio follows video”. The sound follows the picture: on air, it turns on; off air, it is muted.

With AFV off, the sound stays the way you leave it, on air or not.

You can also turn AFV on and off with the Audio follows video box in the FX window.

Videos and audio files

On media the button shows AFV 🔒: the audio always follows the video. Even so, you can press ON or MUTE by hand partway through.
