Create your own keyboard shortcuts

Pick a key and say what it does: function, input and, if the function asks for it, the transition and the time.

Step by step

  1. Click “⚡ Shortcuts and Triggers” and open the “My shortcuts” tab.
  2. Click “＋ New shortcut”.
  3. In “Key”, press the key that will fire the shortcut.
  4. In “Do what (function)”, pick the group on the left or search by name.
  5. Pick the input and, if the function asks for it, the value, the transition and the time.
  6. Click “Save”.

One field at a time

The step-by-step unlocks one field at a time: each answer opens the next. The Save button unlocks when only the optional fields are left. The sentence at the top shows the result, for example: Pressing F12: Fade transition to Program.

Which key to use

You can use a keyboard key (with Ctrl, Alt or Shift, or ⌘, ⌥ and ⇧ on Mac), a Stream Deck button or a key on a MIDI device. To change it, click the field and press again. You can also choose No key (address only), to use the shortcut only from an external panel.

The program's fixed keys are refused. See the list in default shortcuts.

Which input

Pick an input from the list, Input on Preview or Input on Program. The input is stored by name: if you open another project and there is no input with that name, the shortcut is left without an input instead of acting on the wrong one.

Transition and time

For transition functions (Fade, Merge, Wipe, Slide, Fly, Zoom, Cube), choose the time in Time (Duration). The time applies only to this shortcut; the transition panel stays as it is.

One key, several functions

A key can have more than one function. When you pick a key that is already in use, NWK warns you and the functions run together, in list order.

Change or delete

In the table, use ✎ to change and ✕ to delete. Your shortcuts are saved on this computer and work in any project.

Questions

I used J, K, L, I or O and the shortcut does not work with video on screen.

With a video on screen, those keys still belong to the video. The shortcut only works when there is no video.

Do my shortcuts go with the project?

No. They are saved on this computer. Triggers are the ones saved in the project.
