Step by step
- Click + Add input › Audio device (microphone, interface)….
- Click the device in the list.
- If it has several channels, choose in Channels how they come in.
- If you want, give it a Name.
- Click Add.
How the channels come in
| Option | Result |
|---|---|
| All in one stereo channel (1 channel) | The whole device becomes one channel in the mixer. |
| Each channel separate (mono) | One mixer channel for each input channel, like on a sound desk. |
| In stereo pairs | One stereo channel for each pair of channels (1-2, 3-4…). |
| Channel N only (mono) | Only that channel. |
| Channels N-M only (stereo) | Only that pair. |
On an interface with more than two channels, NWK suggests each channel separate.
Only the channels you use
In ⚙ Settings › Audio, in the AUDIO INTERFACES (INPUTS) section, choose which channels of each interface you use. Only those appear when you add the input.
Device already in use
If the whole interface is already an input, you can still add individual channels from it. The list shows how many channels the device has and how many are already in the mixer.
Microphone permission on Mac
On Mac, if NWK does not have permission yet, the window shows a warning. Click Allow, or Open Settings if permission was denied, and allow NWK in Privacy & Security › Microphone.
