Step by step
- Click the gear ⚙ next to RECORD.
- Under “Folder”, click “Choose…” and pick where to save.
- Choose the codec, format, resolution, frames and quality.
- Check the audio options you want.
- Click “Close” or “Start recording”.
The options
| Field | Options |
|---|---|
| Codec | H.264 (compatible with everything) or HEVC / H.265 (half the size). |
| Format | MP4 or MOV. |
| Resolution | 4K · 3840 × 2160, 1440p · 2560 × 1440, 1080p · 1920 × 1080 or 720p · 1280 × 720. |
| Frames | Same as the project or half, when the project allows it. |
| Quality | Good · 12 Mbps, High · 20 Mbps (recommended) or Maximum · 40 Mbps. |
Audio
- Record with the Master audio: the video file carries the sound that goes on air.
- Also record separate audio (24-bit WAV, for editing): creates a .wav file with the same name as the video.
Changes during recording
While recording, the options are locked and the folder can't be changed. Changes apply to the next recording.
Which to choose
For most cases, use H.264, MP4 and High quality. Choose HEVC when you want smaller files and your video editor opens HEVC.
