Step by step
- At the top of the window, click ⏺ Multitrack.
- Under FOLDER, click Choose… to pick where to record.
- Choose the QUALITY and WHAT TO RECORD.
- Under CHANNELS, check the channels in the table, or click All.
- Click ● Record multitrack. To finish, click ■ Stop multitrack.
The files
Each channel becomes a WAV file, all the same length and with the start time written in. They open aligned in any audio editing program. The Master, if checked, is file 00, in stereo. The channels follow the table order: 01, 02 and so on.
Each recording creates a folder with the date and time inside the chosen folder. To record many channels for hours, use an external SSD.
Quality
Audio is recorded at 48 kHz. Choose between 24-bit and 32-bit float (does not clip). 32-bit float keeps even what went over 0 dB: you can lower the volume later without distortion.
What to record
- Input (raw sound, no effects): the sound as it arrived.
- Processed (with EQ and effects, pre-fader): with the channel processing, but without the fader.
Check channels from the mixer
Each channel strip has a red ● (in the Advanced mixer, REC). When lit, the channel goes into the multitrack recording. During recording, the channel list does not change: the change applies to the next recording.
Questions
How much space will I need?
The window shows how many tracks are checked, how many MB per minute and how many hours of recording fit on the disk.
“The disk fell behind” appeared. What should I do?
The disk could not keep up. Those parts were left silent, without misaligning the tracks. Use a faster disk.
Does multitrack recording record on other computers?
No. It records only on the computer where you clicked. An audio operator on another computer controls their own recording.
