Take Preview to air with Cut or Quick Play

Step by step

Click an input thumbnail. It appears in Preview, the screen on the left.
For a hard cut, click Cut in the middle column.
To go in with the selected transition, click Quick Play or press Enter.
What was in Preview goes to Program, the screen that goes on air.

Preview and Program

Preview is the shot you prepare. Program (PGM) is what is on air: stream, recording and outputs. You always build in Preview and then take it to Program.

Choosing the Preview input

Click the input thumbnail once. A double-click also only puts it in Preview: nothing goes on air by accident.
Keys 1 to 9 put the first nine inputs in the list in Preview.

Buttons right on the thumbnail

Each thumbnail has its own shortcuts:

⚡ (Quick Play): puts the input in Preview and immediately transitions to Program.
CUT: puts the input in Preview and cuts straight to Program.

Cut and Quick Play

Button	Key	What it does
Quick Play	Enter	Sends Preview to Program with the transition selected in the panel.
Cut	—	Hard cut, no effect.

If the transition selected in the panel is Cut, Quick Play and Enter also do a hard cut.

Questions

Does Space do the cut?

No. Space is only for playing and pausing videos. The transition is on Enter and the Quick Play button.

Can I change the Quick Play key?

Yes. Keyboard shortcuts are in Shortcuts and Triggers. The default is Enter for the transition and F1 to F4 for the overlays.
