Use automatic level (AGC) and noise reduction

AGC adjusts the volume by itself to reach a target. Noise reduction removes hiss, fans and air conditioning from the voice.

Step by step

  1. On the channel strip, click FX.
  2. Open the Auto level and noise tab.
  3. Turn on Automatic gain control (AGC), Noise reduction or both.

Automatic gain control (AGC)

AGC raises or lowers the volume by itself to reach the Target (RMS). It does not raise the noise during silence. It is useful for someone who speaks sometimes close to the microphone, sometimes far from it.

  • Target (RMS): the average level you want.
  • Max. ±: the most it can raise or lower.
  • Speed: how fast it corrects.

The green bar shows how much it is raising or lowering right now.

Noise reduction

It removes hiss, fans and air conditioning from the voice. It learns the noise by itself in about 2 seconds. There are no settings: just turn it on.
