View format guides, safe areas and scopes

See over the picture how it looks in vertical, square or cinema, show the safe areas, and check exposure and color with the scopes.

Guides

At the top of Preview or Program, click ▣ Guides and choose:

  • 9:16 · vertical (Reels, TikTok, Shorts)
  • 4:5 · Instagram feed
  • 1:1 · square
  • 4:3
  • 1.85:1 · cinema
  • 2.39:1 · cinemascope

In the same menu: Safe areas (action 93 %, title 90 %) and Center mark. The guides appear only on the program's screens; they don't go out on the stream.

Scopes

Click ◩ Scopes and choose Waveform (luma), RGB parade, Vectorscope or Histogram. No scopes turns them off.

In the same menu: Zebra: mark what is clipped (above 95 %) and Mark oversaturated color.

Vertical output

With the vertical output on, Program gets the 9:16 button to position the crop of each input. This is part of vertical streaming.

Screen on another monitor

The ⧉ Detach button opens the screen in its own window, so you can move it to another monitor.
