# Reconnect an input or change the device

What to do when the camera drops, the thumbnail shows waiting for signal or you need to change the device or file.

## Step by step

1. Click the gear ⚙ on the thumbnail (it lights up when the input has no signal).
2. Under SOURCE, click ⟳ Reconnect.
3. If the device changed, choose the new one in the list and click Change device.

## No signal
When an input loses its signal, the thumbnail darkens and shows ⟳ with the reason, such as “device disconnected” or “waiting for signal”. NWK tries again by itself, every so often. When the device comes back, the picture comes back.

## Change without losing anything
Changing the source keeps the input's name, settings, mixer and overlays.

- Camera, card or audio device: choose it in the list and click Change device. The current device shows “(current)” and the ones already used show “(in use)”.
- Video, image or audio: click Change file… and choose a file of the same type.
- Web page: change the address and click Apply.
- SRT: change the details and click Reconnect.

## If it still does not come back
- Check the cable and the USB port.
- Close other programs that may be using the same device.
- On Mac, check that NWK has camera and microphone permission in Privacy & Security.
