## Step by step

1. On the channel strip, click FX.
2. Open the Dynamics tab.
3. Turn on the Gate, Compressor or Limiter switch.
4. Adjust the knobs. The bar beside them shows how much is being reduced.

## Gate
The gate cuts what falls below the Threshold, like the noise between phrases. Range sets how much it lowers. Attack, Hold and Release set how fast it opens and closes.

## Compressor
The compressor holds down peaks and makes the voice more even. Above the Threshold, it reduces the sound according to the Ratio: at 3:1, every 3 dB above become 1 dB. Knee makes the compression start more gently. Gain brings the volume back up after compressing.

## Limiter
The limiter never lets the sound go above the Ceiling. It is the final protection against clipping. The default is −1 dB.

## Questions

### Where do I put the limiter to protect the stream?

On the Master. Click FX on the Master strip and turn on the Limiter in the Dynamics tab.
