# Automatically resume the stream and recording after a crash

If NWK crashes in the middle of the event, it can come back with the stream and the recording that were active.

## Step by step

1. Click ⚙ Settings and open the “General” tab.
2. Under “Recovery”, keep “If the system crashes, automatically resume the stream and recording that were active” checked.


## How it works
When NWK comes back after a crash, it opens the same session, with the same inputs. With this option checked, it also turns the stream and the recording that were active back on.



## The recording resumes in a new file
The recording restarts in a new file, with the date and time in the name. The earlier file stays playable up to the point where it stopped.



## On by default
This option comes checked. Uncheck it only if you prefer to decide on the spot whether to go back on air.
