## Step by step

1. On the channel strip, click FX.
2. Turn Gain, Pan or Delay.
3. The sound changes right away, even on air.

## Gain
Gain is the signal volume before everything else, before the EQ and the fader. It goes from −24 to +24 dB. Use it to bring a weak microphone up to the same level as the others.

## Pan
Pan sends the sound more to the left (L) or right (R). In the middle it reads center. In the Advanced mixer, it appears on the Pan row: drag on the bar and double-click to go back to center.

## Delay
Delay holds the sound back a few milliseconds, from 0 to 900 ms. Use it when the person's lips move after the sound, for example with a camera that arrives late. Delay is available on the inputs and on the Master.

## How to turn the knobs
- Drag up or down. With the Shift key, the adjustment is finer.
- The mouse wheel also turns them.
- Double-click to go back to the default value.
To undo everything at once, click Reset processing, at the top of the window.
